Fundraising

The Whangamatā Half Marathon (known as the Run/Walk Festival) has a long tradition of fundraising for the community. The Lions Club of Whangamatā continues to be the recipient charity, raising funds for many local initiatives, along with supporting core services.

The Whangamatā Half Marathon also provides fundraising opportunities to other community groups e.g. Whangamatā Scouts and Waka Ama groups for providing marshals and managing aid stations on the course.

Please contact us if your community group would like to be involved.

Environmental Sustainability

As part of The Coromandel’s Forever Good For Your Soul environmental programme, we have followed in the footsteps of Whitianga Run Fest and Pāuanui Half Marathon and removed single use cups from the event.

Think Water Whangamatā aid stations on course will still offer water and Torq electrolyte drink for you to fill your own reusable cup or hydration device.

Thanks to FuelMe we have a sharp deal on reusable collapsible cups available to purchase when you enter online, or at registration. If you’d rather not pause to fill a cup, you can bring your own drink bottle or hydration device.

If you’re looking to upgrade your hydration options – check out FuelMe’s great range of hydration vests and belts, soft flasks and hand-held hydration solutions. Use your training runs to trial hydration options.

The Whangamatā Half Marathon is proud to have joined the Forever good for your soul environmental programme and is committed to a path that honours our region’s reputation, demonstrating how important our environment is by reducing waste, leading the way with carbon free actions and helping biodiversity in Hauraki Coromandel thrive.
