The Whangamatā Half Marathon (known as the Run/Walk Festival) has a long tradition of fundraising for the community. The Lions Club of Whangamatā continues to be the recipient charity, raising funds for many local initiatives, along with supporting core services.
The Whangamatā Half Marathon also provides fundraising opportunities to other community groups for providing marshals and managing hydration stations on the course.

As part of The Coromandel’s Forever Good For Your Soul environmental programme, we have followed in the footsteps of Whitianga Run Fest and Pāuanui Half Marathon and removed single use cups from the event.
Think Water Whangamatā aid stations on course will still offer water and Torq electrolyte drink for you to fill your own reusable cup or hydration device.
